FOX DYSON IN ASSOCIATION WITH THE FAMOUS SPIEGELTENT PRESENTS…
PAUL CAPSIS AND ARON OTTIGNON IN
CAPSIS
A fantastic voyage into the musical mind of Paul
Capsis, where inner demons wrestle with inner divas! – DAVID BONNEY, DIRECTOR
Australia’s singing sensation Paul Capsis makes his long awaited fringe
return, hot on the heels of sell-out seasons at the Sydney Opera House and Vienna’s
Schauspielhaus.
"Takes your breath away, leaving you gasping,
open-mouthed, in amazement and admiration... exhilarating... you leave this extraordinary
show smiling, refreshed and aware that you have witnessed something that is both
rare and wonderful" [THE SCOTSMAN]
At the forefront of the international resurgence of classic live cabaret, Paul
comes together with the astoundingly talented 20 year-old keyboard prodigy Aron
Ottignon for a night of pure magic. In an unmasked celebration of the man and
the voice, Paul channels the spirits of Judy, Marlene and Janice and deconstructs
Lou Reed and Jimi Hendrix, amongst others. He has been hailed as the prophet leading
the art form of cabaret out of the desert.
"This is a real partnership of stellar talent, and
edgy and fascinating collaboration. It is a joy to watch two performers of this
calibre musically stretching each other’s talents" [SYDNEY MORNING
HERALD, FEB 2003]
This is Paul’s first return to the Fringe since 1997, when his sharp
wit and sublime diva impersonations received more of the rave reviews that have
followed him around the world.
"Hypnotizes the audience… An astonishing vocal
range… 75 minutes of unpredictable pzazz and standing ovation" [MANCHESTER
EVENING NEWS, MAY 2003]
Paul was a featured performer at the Sydney Olympics and in numerous international
arts festivals. He also recently received a rapturous reception when he entertained
a celebrity-packed crowd at Australia’s society event of the year –
Russell Crowe’s wedding.
"Funny, moving and literally unbelievable…
the most startling experience of the fringe" [SCOTLAND ON SUNDAY]
Aron has his own jazz group and has music in the blood - his father was in
Manfred Mann and his grandmother played piano for the UK’s first silent
movie theatre, later touring with Liberace.
