Bob Doolally
"Foul-mouthed and politically incorrect" The Scotsman
"As funny as it is filthy, managing to use the C-word as noun, verb and adjective...the
line between Doolally and reality is very thin" The Observer
Bob "the Gob" Doolally a retired football
manager and ex-player who now hacks out a living as an after-dinner speaker and
third-rate media pundit is now recognised as one of the most original and unique
character comedy currently playing on the UK live circuit. Five sell-out Edinburgh
Fringe shows, three national tours of Scotland, performances at comedy festivals
throughout the UK and numerous TV and radio appearances, including a starring
role in BBC’s BAFTA-nominated Live Floor Show
As opinionated as he is entertaining, Bob’s own
playing career may have been short on success, but it was rich in incident and
controversy. An evening with Bob recalls that career in all its gory detail...the
endless clubs he played for and managed, the numerous fights and on-pitch debacles,
the six marriages to small-town beuty queens and C-list celebs, and countless
anecdotes of drink-fuelled debauchery.
Bob Doolally has also appeared on the Channel 4 comedy
sports show Under the Moon, on Seven Days and Scotland Today (both Scottish TV),
with Gerry Sadowitz on The People Versus the Edinburgh Fringe (Channel 5) and
on Net.Comedy (Carlton TV), as well as on Late Tackle (Radio 4), The Long Weekend
(Radio Scotland), Edwina Currie’s Late-Night Currie (Radio 5), Velvet Cabaret
(Radio Scotland), was part of Radio 5 Live’s 1998 World Cup coverage and
on Radio Forth’s weekly review of the new single releases The Hit Factor.
As well as appearing live at theatres, arts centres
and comedy venues throughout the country, Bob is increasingly in demand for corporate
work and after-dinner speaking.
